IB Mathematics IA Tool
How Mathski works — and what it can't do
First-pass drafting aid only. All marks must be reviewed and finalised by the teacher.
Criteria C and D need the most human oversight — most prone to over-award.
Mathematical correctness in Criterion E is checked but not guaranteed. Verify calculations independently.
Graphs, GDC screenshots, and diagrams in PDFs may not be fully readable. Note this for Criterion B.
Marks anchored strictly to official IB descriptor language. Volume and ambition do not substitute for meeting descriptors.
Each criterion flagged secure / borderline / vulnerable to support moderation-ready submission.
Built on official IB Mathematics IA assessment criteria and descriptors for SL and HL.
Coversheet comments are drafts — edit before pasting into any official form or IBIS.
What is your IA marked against?

Every IB Mathematics Internal Assessment is marked by your teacher against five criteria — A through E — and then externally moderated by the IB. The total mark is out of 20. Criteria A to D are identical for SL and HL students. Criterion E (Use of Mathematics) has separate descriptors for SL and HL, with HL requiring greater sophistication and rigour at the top bands.

A Presentation
B Mathematical Communication
C Personal Engagement
D Reflection
E Use of Mathematics

Marking uses a best-fit model — the descriptor that most accurately reflects the overall level of the work is selected. It is not necessary for every aspect of a descriptor to be met. The documents below are the official and supporting materials that Mathski's marking is based on. Download and review them to understand exactly what examiners are looking for.

These marks and comments are generated from official IB descriptor language and represent a first-pass check only. The teacher must review, adjust, and take full responsibility for all submitted marks. Coversheet comments should be edited before pasting into IBIS or any official submission form.
